Google Shares Apps From the Play Store
A few days ago, Google began testing a new feature that allows Android users to share apps from the Google Play Store. This is similar to Apple’s AirDrop but without the need for Bluetooth and Wi-Fi. The feature was spotted by 9to5Google and it’s currently available to some Google Play users in the US and Japan.
The Share Sheet is a three-section sharing interface that appears when you tap the Share button (a square with an arrow) in an app. The first section offers options for sharing content with people in your contacts, while the second row includes suggestions for the most popular third-party apps. You can customize the apps that appear in this row by tapping , then selecting Edit. You can also move and rearrange the order of apps in the row.
Apple’s iPhone and iPad allow you to copy and paste text, images, or other file types between apps. You can do this by using the Share button in a photo, video, or webpage in the Photos app, or with the context menu in Safari. The Universal Clipboard feature in iOS also makes it easy to copy and paste between multiple devices.
While it’s nice that the Universal Clipboard feature is available in iOS, it would be even better if you could access it directly from the Share Sheet. This would be especially helpful when you want to quickly share something with someone else and don’t have the time to create a Shortcut.
